Renjo Kyu is a Q Class student and one of the main protagonists along with five members. He is voiced by Megumi Obata in the anime series and played by Kamiki Ryunosuke in the live-action series.

In the first appearance, Kyu doesn't have any family name and his background was well hidden except for his mother works as translator.

He is an optimistic and easy going boy which always broke tension between the other members and also the Class A students. Although people sees him as naive and klutz, but he has very sharp observation even on the smallest matter. He was considered to be Class Q's leader, known for his logical explanations of cases, even more so than Ryu.

He has good sense of judgement regarding people but often says things that usually infuriate some of his friends around him especially Megumi and Kinta. Even though he acts this way, he cares deeply for his friends. And because of his sweet personality, Ryu slowly opens up to Kyu, ending up becoming the latter's best friend. Their friendship which solely based on trust has puts Ryu in a new path away from Pluto.

He also cares for Megumi and shows some jealousy when she was paired up with Ryu. In Premium Volume, it is reveals that they were in couple relationship.

His dream is always to become a detective, just like his mentor, the man he adore since he was young.  When he was five years old, Kyu was kidnapped and held as a hostage by some criminals and fortunately, his mentor saved him.

Later was revealed that Satoru is his real father and a personal assistant of Morihiko Dan. Unfortunately, Satoru was killed during an operation of take down Pluto, an event that forced Morihiko Dan in a wheelchair.

At age 14, he joined DDS examination and met Minami Megumi; the girl with photographic memory, Kintaro Toyama; son of a well-respected police officer with unusual high instict level and superior strength, Narusawa Kazuma; a rich computer programmer and later, Amakusa Ryu; a mysterious boy who's very intelligent. He pass the test and later enrolled Q Class (Qualified Class).
